Business thinking and actions also include social responsibility at emtechnik. We demonstrate our commitment by supporting youth in Maxdorf and cooperating with schools and technical institutes to promote a qualified next generation of employees.
Well qualified employees are the most important success factor for any company. This is part of the reason why youth support is particularly important to us at our headquarters in Maxdorf. And for good reason: supporting young people in their personal, social and professional development is for us one of the most important investments in the future. As a result, time and again we are able to recruit interested and capable young people who we provide with training and entry into professional life here at emtechnik.
Team spirit, strategic thinking and the willingness of every individual to contribute - these are the factors that make a basketball team successful. And because these characteristics are also important for success in professional life, it has been a central issue for emtechnik to support the youth team in the basketball section of TSG Maxdorf since 1990.
With our commitment, we want to make a contribution to providing young sportsmen and women in Maxdorf with a stimulating environment in which they can experience fair play in a strong team.
To promote a sense of community and the creative organisation of young people during their leisure time - this is the objective of emtechnik commitment as it regularly supports the work of the Maxdorf youth centre and youth representatives.
The youth centre in Maxdorf is a meeting point for young people from the district and a place for organising leisure activities. emtechnik supports the youth centre with funding for the procurement of needed equipment. For example, we have sponsored the purchase of an aquarium, a pottery kiln, a giant chess set and a bus.
Democracy and learning social responsibility are topics addressed by the youth representatives in Maxdorf. Those involved essentially deal with two areas: on the one hand they organise youth campaigns and youth events such as sporting events or job application training. On the other hand they are involved in the public life of the local government to discuss subjects of relevance for young people, such as the improvement of timetables during rush-hours. emtechnik supports this work, for instance by setting up a celebration on the 10th anniversary of youth representatives.
For many years emtechnik has been intensively involved with the secondary school in Maxdorf. The objective here is also to show and open up for schoolchildren possibilities and perspectives for their future at work.
Specific work experience can be obtained by schoolchildren in the 9th class: emtechnik provides a work experience place during the mandatory 14-day work experience.
In close co-operation with the head teacher and teachers we regularly hold job application training in the assembly hall at the secondary school to give the schoolchildren good tips and assistance on successful job applications for an apprenticeship, even before the end of their time at school.
Against the same background emtechnik is also involved in the careers advice camp that enables young people to obtain three days of practical work experience in a company and to discuss the topics of work and occupational training in the evening during the joint overnight stay in a youth hostel.
As part of the Mannheim Model for Small and Medium Enterprise Stipends, we support students in courses of study for a bachelor in engineering management and machine construction. The idea of the Mannheim Model is to support students both by paying for educational costs as well as giving them a realistic glimpse of the operating processes of a company with internship semesters so that students can more fully bridge the gap between theory and practice during their studies. We also support the technical institute's annual Small and Medium Enterprise Day to maintain and develop contacts with the institute, students and promising future employees. We will therefore again be participating in the promotional activities for upcoming semesters and will again make a stipend available.
Under the motto "Let´s do it together", a new cooperative education program for Bachelor in Logistics was started in winter semester 2010 at the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences. emtechnik participated in the conceptual development of the course of study and has made a dual study slot available since the inception of the program. The underlying idea is a continuous transfer of knowledge between the technical institute or university and participating companies. Students benefit from the opportunity to obtain two professional qualifications at the same time as part of their study: a Bachelor of Arts in Logistics as well as a degree in a recognised training profession such as commercial graduate for forwarding and logistics services or industrial sales representative. Closely intertwining their studies and on-the-job training, students shuttle between the company and technical institute or university during the course of study at 12-week intervals.
For us this is another component in selectively promoting the next generation of employees which we have been actively implementing for years in a wide range of areas.
