Business thinking and actions also include social responsibility at EM-TECHNIK. Youth support is particularly important to us at the headquarters in Maxdorf. And for good reason: supporting young people in their personal, social and occupational development is for us one of the most important investments in the future. As a result time and again we are able to recruit interested and capable young people who we provide with training and entry into professional life here at EM-TECHNIK.
Team spirit, strategic thinking and the willingness of every individual to contribute - these are the factors that make a basketball team successful. And because these characteristics are also important for success in professional life, it has been a central issue for EM-TECHNIK to support the youth team in the basketball section of TSG Maxdorf since 1990.
With our commitment, we want to make a contribution to providing young sportsmen and women in Maxdorf with a stimulating environment in which they can experience fair play in a strong team.
For many years EM-TECHNIK has been intensively involved with the secondary school in Maxdorf. The objective here is also: to show and open up for schoolchildren possibilities and perspectives for their future at work.
Specific work experience can be obtained by schoolchildren in the 9th class: EM-TECHNIK provides a work experience place during the mandatory 14-day work experience.
In close co-operation with the head teacher and teachers we regularly hold job application training in the assembly hall at the secondary school to give the schoolchildren good tips and assistance on successful job applications for an apprenticeship, even before the end of their time at school.
Against the same background, EM-TECHNIK is also involved in the careers advice camp that enables young people to obtain three days of practical work experience in a company and to discuss the topics of work and occupational training in the evening during the joint overnight stay in a youth hostel.
EM-TECHNIK regularly supports the initiative of the BOSS days. BOSS stands for "Berufliche Orientierung: Schüler als Selbstständige" (Careers advice: schoolchildren as self-employed) . The objective of the BOSS days is to show young people occupational perspectives that they may not even have considered prior to starting their training.
During the BOSS days, held in conjunction with the secondary school in Maxdorf, schoolchildren have the opportunity to obtain information on the special situation of medium-sized businesses, market prospects, the legal situation and possible occupations during conversations and workshops with EM-TECHNIK's General Manager, Michael Meier.
Along with new impetus and advice for the schoolchildren, the BOSS days also provide a good platform for the companies involved to establish contact with talented potential employees.
To promote a sense of community and the creative organisation of young people during their leisure time - this is the objective of commitment with which EM-TECHNIK regularly supports the work of the youth centre and youth representatives.
The youth centre in Maxdorf is a meeting point for young people from the district and a place for the organisation of leisure activities. EM-TECHNIK supports the youth centre with funding for the procurement of equipment and has sponsored the purchase of an aquarium, a pottery kiln and a giant chess set.
Democracy and learning social responsibility are topics addressed by the youth representatives in Maxdorf. Those involved essentially tackle two areas: on the one hand they organise youth campaigns and youth events such as sporting events or job application training. On the other hand they are involved in the public life of the local government to discuss subjects of relevance for young people, such as the improvement of timetables during rush-hours. EM-TECHNIK supports this work, for instance by setting up a celebration on the 10th anniversary of youth representation.
